April 17th

Off to the cabin with our youth group. Guys only this weekend. I wonder if there will be a fight for the TV remote. Not that we get TV service without hooking up the antenna. Which I have no plans of doing.

The guys were happy with the cabin. They really commented that it was a house and not a cabin. We had a great time playing Scattergories. Of course they beat me soundly. These high school and middle school kids are bright nowdays.

Up and at'em. Our youth group leader cooked us up a great breakfast of fried eggs and bacon. Just what we needed for the day's hike. We had planned on hiking into Hemmed in Hollow but the rain forecast was a little iffy so we headed over to Lost Valley. The wildflowers were in bloom and Eden Falls was flowing pretty good. After that we visited Hammerschmidt Falls. It was a little sad to see all of the ice damage. Thankfully someone had cut the brush off of the trail.

Lunch--then off to Hawksbill Craig. But it was not to be. By the time we got to the trail head the clouds had rolled in and big rain drops were coming out of the heavens. Well at least the gang got to see some new country. They'll be back.

Back to the cabin and the gang got all packed up to leave. Wish they could have spent more time but they really enjoyed the time they did get to spend

Here is a link to some photos from their trip.

I stayed behind to clean up the cabin and get it ready for next weekend. CSNP group is coming (Central States Nature Photographers) to spend the weekend for a spring shoot. I'm sure there will be some great stories and photographs.

The CSNP weekend turned out perfect except for being windy. But the crew still got some great shots.

Here's one of the many I found.
